SimplShip

Cookie Policy

Effective date: May 23, 2026

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files set by a website and stored in your browser. They let the site remember things between page loads — most commonly, whether you're signed in. This page lists every cookie SimplShip sets, why it's needed, and how long it lasts.

2. Cookies SimplShip sets

Authentication (essential)

Set by Supabase when you sign in. Without these, you can't stay signed in across page loads — the application will not function. We do not offer an opt-out for these because they are required to use SimplShip.

  • sb-<project>-auth-token — your signed-in session. Expires when the session expires (typically 1 hour of inactivity, with a refresh token good for 30 days).
  • sb-<project>-auth-token.0 / .1 — chunked variants of the same token (Supabase splits large tokens across multiple cookies). Same lifetime.

Product analytics (optional, off by default)

If we've enabled PostHog for the current deploy, it sets a first-party analytics cookie limited to the SimplShip domain. It does not track you across other sites. Event payloads contain page-view and key-action events (e.g. "quote submitted") but never shipment data.

  • ph_* — anonymous device identifier used to deduplicate event counts. Lifetime: 1 year.

Error monitoring (optional, off by default)

If we've enabled Sentry for the current deploy, it may set a session identifier cookie used to group related errors. Lifetime: 30 minutes of inactivity. No personal data is sent in error reports beyond what's in the page URL where the error occurred.

3. Cookies SimplShip does NOT set

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No cross-site tracking pixels or social-media beacons.
  • No third-party data brokers, ad networks, or DSPs.
  • No "fingerprinting" beyond the standard IP + user-agent metadata your browser sends with every HTTP request.

4. Cookies set by carriers and Stripe

When you complete a Stripe checkout from inside SimplShip, Stripe sets its own cookies on its hosted checkout page (a separate stripe.com domain). Those cookies are governed by Stripe's cookie policy and are necessary for payment processing.

Carrier tracking pages (USPS, FedEx) that we link to from order-detail emails are operated by those carriers and set their own cookies under their own policies.

5. How to manage cookies

You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the Supabase authentication cookie will prevent you from staying signed in to SimplShip — the application will redirect you back to the sign-in page on every request.

If you want to disable optional analytics or error-monitoring cookies for your account specifically, email us at the address in §7 and we will exclude your account from those tools.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the cookies we set change. Material changes will be reflected here and, where they materially affect existing customers, communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
